Pont-Aven has preserved its
reputation as an artists' town, thanks to its numerous galleries and
museums.
The village is located in a picturesque setting, by the river. The
painter Paul Gauguin was so overwhelmed by the town and its surroundings
that he came here to spend the rest of his life.
Other artists followed, and the School of Pont-Aven had a profound
impact on French Impressionism.
